Professional Biography

Arya was born and raised in the capital city of Iran, Tehran, until age 17 when he became an immigrant of the United States and later an American Citizen. He went to Alborz High School, one of the exceptional high schools in Iran, prior to graduation from Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, California.

While being at Fremont, Arya was a full time employee of JCPenney store where he earned several awards for outstanding customer service; he was also the recipient of James Cash Penney Community Service Award for his outstanding contribution to Fremont High School as a volunteer math tutor, and fundraiser salesman for the National Honor Society, and the California Scholarship Federation.

Followed by his graduation from high school, Arya attended De Anza College in Cupertino, where he studied prerequisite courses for transferring to a four year university. While being at De Anza, he held two jobs, one as a Senior Math and Science Tutor and another as a computer Lab Consultant and later as a Windows System Administrator at the department of language arts, in addition to his full time studies and involvements with extracurricular activities. He founded the Persian Student Society, a community formed of students to increase awareness about the issues related to Iran and Iranian culture; later he was elected as the Inter Club Council Chairperson where he oversaw over sixty clubs governments and activities.

Arya then was challenged with a transformation to the City of Los Angeles and attending University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA), where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in the field of Computer Science and Engineering in 2007. During his three years at UCLA, Arya explored variety of optional topics such as software engineering, information security, database systems, and entrepreneurship. He was also employed part-time as a Technical Support Specialist and later a Program Analyst at the department of Design | Media Arts where he learned the art of Linux and open-source programming. Arya was also involved with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at UCLA as the Treasurer and later the Technology Chair where he re-architected the entire website with open-source content management system, forum, gallery, and blog.      

During his second year at UCLA, Arya was fortunate to have an internship with Yahoo! Incorporated where he contributed a small work to the company’s #1 project, Project Panama.

Arya currently lives in the city of Campbell, California and works as a Software Engineer with Yahoo! Mobile Search team. His career interests range from human and computer interaction to entrepreneurship. His ultimate goal is to revolutionize the education system and the way people learn.

Arya enjoys spending time with his family and friends and takes occasional hiking trips to Rancho San Antonio and biking trips to Vasona Lake County Park, though he still feels having a few extra pounds. In his free time, he enjoys playing classical guitar, or having a thoughtful conversation.  

Last but not least, he practices Zoroastrianism as a philosophy rather a religion.
