Jakes of Old Friends
Today I filled up the second cavity of my life. I generally don’t like dentists, and I haven’t been to dentist appointments more than three times in my life, but I liked Dr. Virk’s work on my tooth. I was acting like a scared baby and she numbed on side of my mouth so that I would not feel the drill and Waterlaser gun. Afterwards, I went to the Pizza shop I had to go in order to see some old friends.
The story continues from yesterday’s post:
The plan was to meet at Jakes of Sunnyvale, at 7:30 pm. 14 people have made it, two of which who left early, and two of which I did not know at all! Thank you for coming anyway. Few who intended to come, did not show up at all. I preserve their rights and I do not name them here. Even though we waited for them till 11 pm, no one even called to say that they are not coming so at least we wrap up earlier.
It was a good night. I met some old friends after 3 years. I wished if I could see more. I understand that it might not have been the perfect planning and timing but at least I made the phone calls, returning it is not a bad idea. We drank beer, ate pizza, and afterwards we went to a Hookah Lounge in 3rd Street in San Jose. I played backgammon against Sara and she insisted that the game is to win three hands. She won and was happy. I do not know happy of smoke or happy of winning the three hands. I won two hands not degrading myself in the game, but I bet if the game was a five-winning hand game, I would have had a great chance of winning, but here Sara, it was my new year’s gift to you.
As usual the night ended with kisses and hugs and everybody went home. Today’s thought of the day was how can I bring these people together next time.
My name is Arya and I am a holistic software architect specializing in performance, availability, and scale. My passed inventions shine on Yahoo! Search, Gaia Online, and Monster Galaxy on Facebook. Currently I am on a fascinating journey with CardSpring, and I feel very lucky to be part of a fast-paced company with an amazing objective. We are here to revolutionize the payment card industry, and as a matter of fact we have started doing that already, but this is just the beginning. I work with a small group of talented, brilliant, and diligent engineers and executives. I call them my family. I contribute back to open source when time allows. Anyway, if you want to know about other venture I have run and other $#!t I have created, just ask. I am no longer available for consulting. By the way, ask me to cook something for you or or paint something about your life with oil. That's it. Howdy?
